Holy Spirit Conference for Kids

Holy Spirit Conference for Kids
Coming January 31 – February 3.

The 2nd annual Holy Spirit Conference is coming up soon. Last year we had ministry for kids but this year we are going to “ramp it up.” We want to foster an atmosphere for kids to learn about and be filled with the Holy Spirit. It will be a wonderful time for the whole family to be refreshed and renewed.

Chuck Padgett is a children’s pastor from Oxford, Florida, and he will be our special kid’s speaker. He will be placing an emphasis on the Holy Spirit each night in a fun and unique way. We will talk about who the Holy Spirit is, what the Holy Spirit does, the baptism in the Holy Spirit and the benefits that the Holy Spirit brings to the life of a believer.

On Wednesday at 4:00 pm we will also have a special after school event for our Elementary age kids. This event will be a time to have fun together and enjoy a pizza party. This event is free.

The Holy Spirit Conference for Kids will be held at Muldoon Community Assembly, 7041 DeBarr Road, Anchorage. Services will start Sunday night at 6:00 pm and Monday – Wednesday nights at 7:00 pm. We will also feature ministry to Preschool and Nursery age children. If you have any questions, please call Pastor Pam Hodges at 907-330-2108 or email me at pamhodges@mcaonline.org.

Congratulations, Alaska District Kids!

Congratulations are in order. The kids of the Alaska District (along with lots of wonderful adults) have given $42,452.74 to BGMC in 2009! In 2008 we gave $25,044.39. As you may know, I was privileged to go to Africa in October after winning a contest between BGMC directors in the US. I was one of the top 6 winners because we got 100% participation from those who had already pledged to BGMC in the past and an additional 5 churches who had never participated pledged this year. It was a life changing trip and I saw first hand what BGMC funds do in Africa.

I am so excited! I told our leadership in Springfield that we could do it when I pledged $30,000 for our state. We came in well over that amount and it is because of you! Thanks to all our churches who faithfully give to BGMC.

Extreme Makeover -- Little Beaver Camp Edition

We are excited about the future of Little Beaver Camp & Retreat Center! As many of you are aware, we have winterized LBC. We are making the most of the next several months prior to our summer camp season for an extensive revitalization project. We are calling it, “Extreme Makeover Little Beaver Camp Edition." We have an amazing team of folks working overtime to update and remodel existing buildings and facilities at LBC as well as develop the next phase of our network's camping ministry. As we began this process of Extreme Makeover, we interviewed present and past camp patrons to see how we could best serve their current and future camping needs. From the data collected, we then developed a rather aggressive plan to launch Little Beaver into the next decade of growth and expansion. Currently we have 10 teen & children’s camps scheduled for this summer and have already started booking for the fall. That has doubled what was scheduled last summer. If you or your church would be interested in coming to help for a few days around the Little Beaver Campus please let us know, we would love to facilitate this. Monthly we will update you on what progress is being made. Here is the January Update:

AKSOM is now entering its second year. Quite a few students who began with the Certified Ministry level of studies have now graduated to the Licensed Ministry level. Additionally, the Ordained Ministry level has expanded from two students one year ago to around 10 students state wide. The Anchorage venue went very well this past Saturday. Here is Sharlotte teaching "Apologetics."

AKSOM

The AKSOM Leadership team has been meeting and planning for what God has in store. It is great to see them ministering all over the state, helping to train leaders for ministry in Alaska. Lattis reports that AKSOM is experiencing good enrollment, great student interest, and very good instruction from qualified professors across the Alaska District.

One of the blessings has been to see AKSOM expand off the road system. This is Lattis teaching in Dillingham and a venue in Southeast.
