Southeast Minister's Conference

The Southeast Minister's Conference just wrapped up and it was incredible!  Pastor Mike Rose and Juneau Christian Center did a superb job hosted this event.  Sean Smith brought an emphasis on prophetic evangelism and revival.  There was a full house, as many from the community attended.  Nine people were saved last night and the altars were flooded with people seeking God.  The fellowship was very rich and it was such a blessing to be with everyone.

This morning we collaborated on the strategic plan over breakfast.  Again, there was a sweet spirit and also great insight into improvements for the strategic plan.  We deeply appreciate everyone's input.  After the strategic plan collaboration, AKSOM classes began in Juneau and continue through tomorrow.  Here are some pictures from SE Minister's Conference.

Evoke! -- Young Adult Retreat

We just completed an amazing weekend at Little Beaver at a Young Adult retreat with just over 50 folks. It was an amazing time of worship, teaching & fellowship. Heather and Ryan Gluth led worship, Dale Baker and Bethany Veater provided leadership and Mark Zweifel spoke. There were 4 dynamic workshops ranging from purity, singleness, finances and goal setting. It was filled with lots of laughter and we could not have had better weather for the event.

We are developing a team of leaders for this ministry at this time and plan on doing a yearly retreat at LBC and a church based conference once a year. We are also praying for God to send the right leaders to Alaska to launch a Chi Alpha ministry on our campuses in Anchorage and Fairbanks!

Strategic Plan Collaboration, Valley

After the collaboration in Anchorage, we headed out to Matanuska AG in Palmer for the Valley Strategic Plan collaboration.  Thanks Pastor Randy for hosting this event.  It was a blessing to be with you.  We had great discussion and ideas and were also able to celebrate Sister Hughes' birthday!  Thanks to the AKSOM team for coming to both collaborations and presenting the ministry of AKSOM in the context of the strategic plan.

Central Region Strategic Plan Collaboration -- Anchorage Area

It was an excellent time collaborating with Central Region ministers yesterday over the strategic plan.  There was active participation with very good discussion.  The Alaska Ministry Network is composed of such a great group of people.  Pastor Fay, thanks so much for hosting this event.  Here are some pictures.

Royal Ranger Campground

The 40 acre Royal Ranger campgrounds are located just south of North Pole. This past Sunday afternoon, Pastor Bill and Dori received a warm welcome at the campgrounds from Duane and Joy Fick. Development of the camp site continues. Art Braendel, Duane Fick and Scott Leist are the visionaries behind the campgrounds. This summer Pathfinders brought a team of volunteers to the campgrounds. They helped build a building containing new restrooms and showers that is almost completed.

Baptisms in Stebbins

Prophetess Hayden is the Pastor in Stebbins, and this past Sunday they baptized 12 people!  Brian Staub helped pull people from the water and several from St. Michael participated in the service.  They were baptized right in the Bering Sea.

St. Michael Update

We are hearing great things from St. Michael!  Brian and Linda Staub were appointed as US Missionaries there, and St. Michael was one of the featured projects at Network Conference this year.  Much work has been done on the facilities, and the Staubs thank everyone who gave toward this project and the work groups that came out.

They are getting things ready for the kids/ youth center, and will be having church in there for kids, youth and young adults. They will also be using the building for a suicide prevention program. They have been given money for this program, and it will be a great thing for the community.

Church has been going great! People are responding to the Holy Spirit. They have been averaging about 20 adults plus kids.  Here are some pictures of the church and children/youth center before and after being painted.

Salvations in Pt. Hope!

Pastor Roy Welch returned to Pt. Hope. He has been filling in for several years. This past Sunday they had 38 in church and 7 salvations. Please pray with us that God will send Pt. Hope a permanent pastor.  Also continue to pray that God will minister to the people of Pt. Hope and that they will see great revival.

The Pt. Hope new church building project is almost complete. The congregation has done all the work, paying for the project as the money comes in. They are almost finished.

Central Region Strategic Plan Meeting

We want to remind all Central Region ministers of the meetings tomorrow to discuss the Network Strategic Plan that the Presbytery has been working on.  Essentially, the Presbtery is composing this Strategic Plan for the purpose of examining who we are as a Network (organizational history, regional trends, mission, core values) and how we can strategically plan for the future (goals, strategies, opportunities, obstacles).  We are excited to get your input into this crucial process.

The Anchorage area ministers will meet tomorrow (Thursday) from 11:00 to 1:00 at MCA Element Venue (across the parking lot from the main campus), please bring your lunch.

The Valley area ministers will meet tomorrow from 3pm to 5pm at Matanuska AG in Palmer.  Refreshments will be provided.

For all other regions, stay tuned for upcoming meetings this Fall.  You will receive a letter announcing the place and time of a meeting in your area.

Doris Fellows

Doris Fellows, a dearly loved part of the Alaska Ministry Network family,  went to be with her Lord yesterday.  She was a servant and pioneer in Alaska. Doris came to Alaska in August, 1966 to minister in Point Hope. She also ministered in Emmonak, Nuiqsut, Wainright, Teen Challenge, Far North Bible College, Camp AN, Crossroads Assembly of God, as well as many other places in Alaska. She was a pastor, pilot, cook, teacher, and builder relying on the strength of the Lord to get the job done. “Can’t” was not part of her vocabulary! She will be sorely missed not only for all she did, but for her ready smile and joyful spirit. Please be in prayer for her family at this time.

The funeral will be Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Muldoon Community Assembly.  The viewing will be 12:00—1:00 PM with memorial service at 1:00 PM.

Annual Ministries Forum

Yesterday, the Directors and Assistant Directors met with Pastor Bill at the Annual Ministries Forum.  It was a great time of collaboration and fellowship as they discussed Network Ministries, Network Conference, the Strategic Plan, and other items.  It was exciting to hear what the Lord is doing around the Network in various Ministries.  God has blessed the Network with great ministry leaders!  If you click on the pictures above, they will be larger and easier to see.
