Miss WEIO

Congratulations to Rosemary Berg (pictured in middle, above), daughter of Tom & Melanya Berg!  Rosemary competed as Miss Tikigaq, representing the village of Point Hope in the Miss WEIO (World Eskimo/Indian Olympics) Pageant. She was crowned at the World Eskimo Indian Olympics July 20, in Fairbanks, Alaska.  Rosemary graduated from Grace Christian School, and is now a student at UAA, majoring in Rural Development with a minor in Music.  Her platform is: Hope for Alaskan Villages-Suicide Prevention.  She intends to use this opportunity to share the hope of Jesus with the village youth of Alaska.

Camp AN 2012

Pastor Jim Schulz reports another great year at Camp AN.  They had a number of salvations, and many were baptized in the Holy Spirit.  They had excellent workers coming from Alaska, around the country, and from three of our AG Bible Colleges:  Southeastern, Trinity, and Zion.  Owen Carr came and was a blessing.  Lattis Campbell taught an AKSOM class at Camp AN this year.  Here are some pictures.

Brian & Lila Hopper

This post is overdue, but Brian Hopper was elected to be the Pastor of Lakeside Chapel in Yakutat, right around the time of Network Conference!  Brian is not new to Alaska, as he grew up in Wasilla. He attended Master's Commission in Wasilla for three years, and then became the Youth Pastor at Lighthouse AG in Petersburg.

Brian is married to Lila, and they have two children:  Ezekiel, and Moriah.  Welcome back to Alaska to the Hoppers!  We appreciate your obedience to the call of God on your lives.

Summer Camping

We have heard great reports from camps occuring all around the state this summer.  I hope to get pictures and reports from different camps up on the blog soon.  For now, here is a picture of U.S. Missionaries Austin Jones and Terry Hull baptizing a new believer at Camp AN.  Praise God!

New Pastors in Gustavus

Pastor Dale and Beth Parker have been officially appointed as the new Pastors in Gustavus.  They are not new to Southeast, and they have recently served in Angoon and as interim Pastors in Sitka.  They are always willing to go where God calls, and they will be a great blessing to Gustavus Chapel.

New Pastors in Klawock

Congratulations to Pastor Bob & Debbie Girt, as they were elected in this past Sunday as Pastors of Prince of Peace Assembly of God in Klawock!  We are very excited for them and for the church.  Pastor Bob and Debbie have been ministering in Ketchikan for quite some time.  They are a blessing to the Network.

Work Team to Kotzebue

U.S. Missionary Odis Ganey led a work team from Tulsa, Oklahoma, to level the parsonage and install flooring in the parsonage in Kotzebue.  They worked hard and accomplished their goals.  We deeply appreciate the efforts of Odis and Debby Ganey, as well as the team from Oklahoma for their investment in Alaska.
