Women's Retreat

The Women's Retreat was a huge success again this year. Attendance was good, and there was good representation from all around Alaska. Women's Ministries Director Renee Duncan and her team did a fantastic job in directing this event.

The featured speakers were Beth Grant (pictured below to left) and Michelle Zello (pictured below to right).  Beth Grant is an Executive Presbyter of the General Council of the Assemblies of God, and is the leader of Project Rescue. Project Rescue exists to rescue and restore victims of sexual slavery in the love and power of Jesus Christ.  Michelle Zello spoke to the ladies on Friday morning, sharing the Word and telling of her ministry with Jewels For God. Jewels For God is a missionary endeavor to help people facing abuse and coming out of abusive situations.  Through training and helping people learn how to do jewelry, they are able to assist them in growing in the Lord.

Renee and Women's Unlimited (AK Ministry Network Women's Ministries) have been raising funds for Project Rescue since Network Conference.  Below, Renee is presenting a check for $7,000 to Beth Grant for Project Rescue on behalf of Women's Unlimited.  Thanks to all the churches and individuals who gave towards this worthy project!

Heather Gluth was the featured worship leader for the event.

Jamie Bottoms painted during worship and taught classes on "Art as Worship."

Michelle Zello ( missionary) with Sherri Buller -AKWU team member brought  comedy relief with missionary stories and experiences. Sherri was a missionary to Russia years ago. These girls served as missionaries at the same time.

It was a great time of fellowship for the ladies.

AK Missions in Bethel

Alaska Home Missions Director Lattis Campbell presented the vision of Alaska Missions to Bethel Community Assembly of God this past Sunday.  His was hosted by Bethel Pastors Dale and Pattie Jollotta.  The Jollottas and Bethel Community Assembly have a desire to influence the 55 surrounding villages with the Gospel.  Lattis says, "Bethel is one of Alaska's strategic hub villages and is crucial in advancing the Kingdom of God in every Region in Alaska."

25 Year Celebration for Aikens at King's Way

This past Saturday, King's Way Ministry Center put on a celebration to honor Pastor Jack and Ann Aiken for 25 years of faithful pastoral ministry to the church.  That is quite an accomplishment!  We love Pastor Jack and Ann and appreciate their years of faithfulness to King's Way and the Alaska Ministry Network.

The program included skits, speeches, and special music.  It was very well done and entertaining.

Superintendent Bill Welch gave a talk on faithfulness, using Pastor Jack and Ann Aiken as an example.

The Church Board presented the Aikens with a gift from the church.

AK Home Missions and AKSOM in Sitka

Lattis and Sharlotte were in Sitka recently to teach an AKSOM class and also to promote Alaska Home Missions.  Lattis has made himself available to come to any church and present the needs and opportunities of missions in Alaska.  If you are interested, contact Lattis.

Here is the class of students in Sitka.  Lattis taught Old Testament Survey, and the class was simulcast all throughout Alaska and beyond on the internet.  Pastor Fay Niemann taught the Penteteuch from King's Way Ministry Center in Eagle River, and Brad taught Life of Christ in Kodiak.  It was a great first round of classes for the school year.

Kodiak AG

I was in Kodiak a couple weekends ago to teach an AKSOM class and preach on Sunday morning.  Pastor Tracy and Pam Hodges are doing a fantastic job at this church.  The people there love God and are very friendly and a joy to know. I was very impressed with the church family.

The island is beautiful.  There are rolling green hills and great ocean views.

MAPS in Fairbanks/North Pole

This Summer, Joe Filancia led a team of MAPS workers from Grissim AG to be a blessing in the Fairbanks area.  They painted the office building at North Pole AG, and Joe preached on a Sunday there.  The team also did some sheetrocking and work on the kitchen at Jubilee Worship Center.  We greatly appreciate the blessing that Joe and the team were in Alaska this Summer.
